‘Surodhwoni’ a music school founded by noted singer Smt Antara Chowdhury on 19th of November 2017, in Kolkata, India, specializes in her legendary father Salil Chowdhury’s evergreen songs. It aims at propagating and promoting the legend’s music to the next generation and thus preserving the country’s heritage. Antara’s mother legendary singer Sabita Chowdhury was the inspiration behind the formation of ‘Surodhwoni’.
Salil Chowdhury’s orchestration of the songs and the Prelude and Interlude music utilising his vast knowledge of Western technique of harmony and counterpoint created a new genre of Indian music which is considered to be a trend setter!
His Children’s songs in Bengali composed for his daughter Antara starting from the late seventies is definitely a new chapter in the history of modern Bengali music and are ever dear to the children of Bengal even today!
Antara Chowdhury, daughter of the legendary composer & poet Salil Chowdhury will be teaching her evergreen children's songs Online for new students from 14th September 2024 onwards. Salil Chowdhury is an institution by himself. His knowledge and mastery enhanced the world of poetry and music of our country. Antara Chowdhury is designing a series of online classes for a period of six months (5 levels) for young learners to experience the magical world of Salil Chowdhury's children songs.
For new students, a 6-month certificate course will start from the 14th and 15th of September 2024

Slowly and steadily ‘Surodhwoni’ aims at spreading its wings and adding many more Genre of Salil Chowdhury’s vast creations.
At present, ‘Surodhwoni’ is holding online classes and is happy to announce a 6 month certificate course of Antara Chowdhury’s children’s songs from June 2023. Details of classes will be available in the course section.
We invite all children who want to widen their horizon and enter the magical world of Salil Chowdhury’s creations!

Antara has sung numerous children's songs in Bengali to her credit namely 'Bulbul Pakhi Moyena Tiye', 'O Shona Bang', 'O Ayere Chhute Aye', 'Ek Je Chhilo Machhi' and may others all composed and written by her Legendary father which created a history in the field of Children's songs in Bengal in the late 70's.
Antara has released 2 Hindi albums namely 'Madhur Srmiti' from Times music (solo) and 'Man Ke Manjeere' from Virgin music (duet with Shubha Mudgal). Her solo Bengali album 'Generations' released in 2007 from Times music was highly appreciated. This album consisted of songs of her father Late Salil Chowdhury and her brother, Sanjoy Chowdhury's new compositions.
