‘Surodhwoni’ was formed on 19th of November 2017 which was the 92nd birth anniversary of Legend Salil Chowdhury at Ballygunj Gardens, Kolkata, India.
A grand inauguration was held at the school and the event was attended by great artists namely Smt Haimanti Shukla, Smt Indrani Sen, Sri Swapan Basu and composer Sri Kalyan Sen Barat. The programme was anchored by Sri Debashish Basu.
‘Surodhwoni’ also organized a Tribute programme on legendary singer Sabita Chowdhury’s 73rd birth anniversary on 13th June in 2018 at the school. Famous artists namely Sri Srikanto Acharya, Smt Sreeradha Banerjee, Smt Shampa Kundu and Sri Shubhankar Bhaskar paid their tribute to the great singer along with her daughter Smt Antara Chowdhury. The children of Surodhwoni had the opportunity of listening to these great artists in close proximity, performing in front of them and learning important lessons in music from them..
‘Surodhwoni’ celebrated the completion of one year by organizing a grand show ‘Shurer Jharna’ at Rabindra Sadan auditorium, Kolkata on 3rd February, 2019. Students of the music school performed the Legend Salil Chowdhury’s Bengali and Hindi children’s songs and mesmerized the audience.
The show was inaugurated by Smt Haimanti Shukla who has always encouraged Antara to carry on the works of Salil Chowdhury. Composer Sri Kalyan Sen Barat also graced the occasion and paid his homage to the great composer.
Other eminent artists name Smt Arundhuti Holm Chowdhury, Sri Shivaji Chatterjee, Sri Saikat Mitra and Sri Manomay Bhattacharya also participated in the event and sang the Legends evergreen songs and made the show a grand success! Antara Chowdhury also sang her father’s landmark songs and made the event more special.
The Salil Chowdhury Foundation of Music, Social Help and Education Trust (SCFM) along with PC Chandra Group had organized ‘Salil Sandhya’ on 2nd of November 2019 to commemorate the 94th Birth Anniversary of Salil Chowdhury on his birth month of November at Tulip Hall, P.C.Chandra Gardens, Kolkata. The children of Surodhwoni also got an opportunity to perform at this wonderful event and learn the skills of performing on stage.
This great show was also inaugurated by the eminent artist of our country Smt Haimanti Shukla who along with other renowned artists namely Sri Srikanta Acharya, Sri Manomay Bhattacharya and Smt Sreeradha Banerjee performed the Legends evergreen Hindi and Bengali songs and made the show a grand success.
On 14th November 2023, a pictorial songbook named 'Gaane Gaane Antara' was launched by Hindusthan Records (Inreco), in which for the first time her famous children's songs written and composed by her father legend Salil Chowdhury, were published in the form of comics. Notations of the songs have also been given. This wonderful book was released by Pandit Tanmay Bose. Surodhwoni's children got the opportunity to perform some of the evergreen songs of Antara Chowdhury on that special children's day.
To celebrate the 98th birth anniversary of Legend Salil Chowdhury, Surodhwoni was proud to present a grand show called ‘Shedin Ar Koto Dure’ on 19th of November 2023, at Uttam Mancha, Kolkata.
Children of Surodhwoni got a wonderful opportunity to sing with their teacher Smt Antara Chowdhury and also perform a song with eminent artists of Bengal namely Srikanta Acharya, Saikat Mitra, Lopamudra Mitra, Shampa Kundu, Kazi Kamal Nasser and Kalyan Sen Barat along with his Calcutta Choir.
